Rodney Stuckey: prayers for Rodney Stuckey after apparent seizure

Detroit Pistons point guard Rodney Stuckey is receiving prayers and well-wishings from the entire sports World after suffering from an apparent seizure during the Pistons game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night.

Cav star LeBron James said to the Detroit Free Press "The game is much bigger than players, coaches and fans. Tonight was a game between Cleveland and Detroit, but when an instance like that happens, we all become one family. All of our prayers are with Rodney Stuckey and his family."

Rodney Stuckey reportedly collapsed behind the Pistons' bench during a time-out at 2:30 left in the third quarter. Stuckey was said to be fine after receiving medical attention.

Rodney Stuckey Collapsed During Timeout In NBA Game — On NBA Friday night game, Detroit Pistons’ Rodney Stuckey was rushed to the hospital after collapsed into a coach’s arms in the bench during timeout against the Cleveland Cavaliers. When he’s rushed to the hospital, many reported that he’s still conscious and breathing.

The 23-year-old Stuckey was wheeled off on a stretcher after being treated by medical personnel on the court for 12 minutes, and was taken to the Cleveland Clinic in an ambulance.

ESPN, which was televising the game nationally, said Rodney Stuckey was conscious, breathing on his own and in stable condition at the hospital. It was not immediately clear why he had collapsed.

“It’s very difficult,” Cleveland’s LeBron James said after the Cavaliers won 99-92. “When something like that happens, we’re all one family. Our prayers go out to him.”

James said the teams met at center court after the game to say a prayer for Stuckey.

Stuckey appeared fine as he walked off the court during the timeout late in the third quarter of the game at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena. Stuckey, who started the game and had played 25 minutes, had 8 points and 10 assists. Then, while sitting on the bench, he fell into the arms of strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander.

The Detroit Free Press said on its Web site that Stuckey had to be helped to the locker room at halftime of a November 2008 game in Detroit against the Boston Celtics because of dizziness. He did not return to that game and missed the following two games.

During a time-out at the 2:30 mark of the third quarter of the Pistons’ 99-92 loss to the Cavs, Stuckey appeared to be trying to communicate with Pistons strength-and-conditioning coach Arnie Kander when he slumped over in Kander’s arms.

TV replays showed Stuckey, 23, shaking in what looked like a seizure.

He was attended to by medical personnel for a while before he was carried off the floor on a stretcher. His eyes were closed and he was wearing an oxygen mask.

CLEVELAND — Detroit's Rodney Stuckey was conscious and breathing on his own as he was taken to a hospital after collapsing on the Pistons' bench during a game Friday night.

The Pistons said Stuckey was taken to the Cleveland Clinic and his vital signs were stable, but was going for further testing and observation.

Stuckey was wheeled off the court on a stretcher during the third quarter after he collapsed into a trainer's arms on the bench during the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Stuckey walked off the floor for a timeout showing no signs of illness. After a few moments in a chair, though, Stuckey slumped over.

Medical personnel rushed over to the Pistons' bench with a stretcher. Play was halted for 12 minutes as the medical staff worked on Stuckey, placed an oxygen mask on his face and wheeled him into an ambulance.

Cleveland players huddled together with their heads bowed, while Pistons teammate Tayshaun Prince sat silent in his chair a few feet away as Stuckey was being treated.
